Return to School Message

Posted On Monday June 01, 2020

Good afternoon to our Titan’s community,

As we approach our re-entry week of June 1st-June 5th, all of our Priority Learners have been contacted for immediate support and teachers will also begin the process of reaching out to contact any other students of concern or that would simply like to re-engage with some limited face to face instruction. To that end, if you would personally like your son/daughter to have the opportunity to return to SKSS for a limited instructional time support model, I would ask that you email the teacher directly and they will coordinate available times within their weekly schedule. Be guided that we are providing only essential service employees and select students with support on Mondays as this is a designated On-line platform instructional day.  9-11am and 1-3pm time slots are being made available to all other students from Tuesday to Thursday. Teachers are only permitted to have a maximum of 7 students in their class during any of these scheduled sessions. Transportation to SKSS is limited to SD #73 school buses which are travelling their regular routes at the same scheduled times. School Special buses ARE NOT OPERATING AT THIS TIME.

Please be mindful that when you are making a request to a teacher for support, that we can only have a maximum of 20% of our students in our building at any given time and with almost 1,000 students enrolled, space is limited and health and safety measures are to be strictly enforced. We will collectively do our best to find the necessary support. As referenced in my message earlier in the week, all other Titan’s will simply maintain their current on-line learning platform for the remainder of this school year.

We will have directional tape on our floors so that students know which way to be moving in the hallways. Administration will also have a protocol for health screening for the students entering the school.

As parents we would please ask that you be proactive with pre-screening your son/daughter before they leave for school. Questions to ask and what to look for include:

    • Have you been ill in the last 24 hours?
    • Do you have any of the following symptoms: fever, chills, sneezing, runny nose, new or worsening cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, and new muscle aches or headache.

If your son/daughter answers yes to this question or shows any of the noted symptoms, they are not permitted to enter the building or remain in the building.

Please fill out the SKSS Daily Covid Screening Form PRIOR to coming to school:

SKSS Daily COVID Screening Form  The form will open early morning on June 1st.

Details with our screening form are also noted on our SKSS website. On campus: Social/physical distancing where possible, respiratory etiquette and avoiding facial contact are also important. Regular intervals of cleaning and disinfecting are also scheduled with our custodial staff.

It is our collective goal to provide the safest and most optimal teaching and learning environment for all of our staff and students at SKSS.

If you have specific questions for any of our teachers, please feel free to email them directly for follow-up.

Take care and be safe.
