5th Annunal Strive to Win the Food Bank Drive

SKSS has been invited to compete in the 5th Annual Strive to Win the Drive Food Bank Challenge. It has run successfully for 4 years, bringing in 2000-4500 lbs of food each year! 

 

As you may know, food insecurity (insecure or inadequate access to food) is at an all time high:

  • Almost 6 million Canadians living in the ten provinces live in households facing some level of food insecurity.
  • Over half of all the food-insecure households in Canada are working households.
  • Households living in rented accommodation are more likely to be food insecure.
  • One in five children living in the provinces lives in food-insecure households.

What: 5th Annunal Strive to Win the Food Bank Drive
When: Wednesday, December 6th - Friday, December 15th
Where: Collection will take place in D block classrooms
Why: Food Insecurity is at an all time high
How: Non-perishable Food Bank items may include canned fruit or vegetables, pasta, juice, pasta sauce, beans, toiletries, soup, stew or canned chili, cereal, rice, granola bars, peanut butter, cans of tuna, jelly, honey, pickles, baby food and items, toiletries etc.
