Almost everything we use nowadays uses batteries and most of us think nothing of throwing one in the trash. Did you know that 94% of dead batteries end up in landfills. Batteries contain heavy metals such as mercury, lead, lithium, silver, cadmium and nickel which cause negative effects on the environment when batteries are improperly disposed of. Help collect 1500 pounds of dead batteries or small electronics by bringing them to your D Block class the week of January 16-20th, 2012. The class that can collect the most will receive a prize.
